Difference between 1333mhz and 1600mhz ddr3 ram

By egtrevJanuary 14, in Hardware. The motherboard will adjust the speed when it accesses the other sticks. But, decent motherboard manuals recommend that the same CAS timings be used on all sticks present. I only have 4 slots so all would be replaced with the slower speed so all slots would have matching sticks.

I may have worded my question wrong - What I meant is would the upgrade be worth it if the RAM speed is slower - will the slower speed have a negative impact to overall performance. With the extra RAM things will speed up. If the extra was MHz it would speed up a hair more, but doubtful you'd really notice it unless you're trying to get 1 extra frame per second or 10 more points on a passmark.

Posted January 14, I have started to play more with VM's and have been looking to add some more memory now. Would it still be worth the upgrade or would the lower speed be a problem? Any advice is appreciated, Thanks.

Previous Next Sort by votes. Enderegg Honorable. Feb 24, 0 11, Will it make a difference?I'm customizing a gaming laptop and these two choices are offered at the same price. At first it may seem as if the 12gb ram is better more is generally better, right? But the 8gb is faster MHz vs MHz. How big is the speed difference? I am somewhat proficient with hardware, so you do not have to explain in layman's terms.

If you plan to do a lot of gaming or video editing you more of the MHz as that is the faster memory of the two. The higher thee MHz speed the faster the memory runs in a computer. The more memory that you have rated in GB the more you can do with a computer.

difference between 1333mhz and 1600mhz ddr3 ram

To do a lot of work you will need a high clock speed on the memory and a large amount of it. Basically, the more and the faster, the better. At first it may seem as if the 12gb ram is better The difference is two fold in gaming and not as good in video editing with the 8gb package. Two fold meaning that the processor can run faster if overclocked with the 8gb and the 8gb is faster ram also. But video editing requires more ram all around. If you don't overclock the processor on the 8gb package deal you will see a difference in speed from the 12gb package, but under heavy load on the internet searching for different things and doing different things it's better to have the 12gb package.

The speed will not make up for more memory. So switching pages on ebay after you have set it to run at items per page will not be good for the 8gb package at all. Do they affect performance of the computer? Answer Save. This Site Might Help You.

I wont be overclocking and predominantly use my pc for gaming. For someone like me, I used to be able to figure these things out with the old FSB model, but the new QPI architecture makes the decision a bit blurry for me! Any help appreciated, borals.

RAM Speed, The Difference between 1333Mhz and 1600Mhz

It only takes a minute to sign up. Can I use this in the other slot along with the original to reach a combined 8GB? The dual-channel DDR3 architecture enlarges the bandwidth of your system memory to boost system performance.

As long as both modules are supported by the board, the faster will clock down to match the slower. Enjoy your 8GB of ram. Also, you don't have to worry too much about breaking your motherboard as long as the memory types matches the slot. At worst it'll fail to POST. Google 'Power On Self Test' for more.

The faster memory should be automatically down clocked to Mhz. Be sure you are running the current firmware to avoid any issues ahead of time. The motherboard, and I would assume your CPU, supports both speeds. You could in theory over clocked the slower memory, although that might not be worth your time since a Mhz down clock won't result in any performance differences honestly.

This chip contains information about supported modes frequency and latencies this module should work with. Memory controller situated in modern CPUs reads this information and chooses best mode, supported by all installed modules. While it works with all modules simultaneously it can't use different freq or latency for different modules.

This behaviour could be changed by Setup program people call it "bios setup" sometimes. Overclockers set freq and latency manually, overwriting values from SPD, but system may be unstable. In your case memory controller will read all SPDs and choose the slowest frequency.

It will work. You may try to set big frequency manually, but you may face BSOD or even unbootable PC then, and you will need to reset memory settings. It also can show you SPD values.
